Individual Counseling
You and the counselor will sit down and discuss the concerns you are having. It is a safe and
confidential setting. Individual counseling includes biblical counseling, talk therapy,
and other one on one mental health treatments. The goal is to work through the difficult
circumstances and get to a place of healing. You can use individual counseling to work through:
anger, anxiety, depression, career changes, marriage and relationship difficulties, grief, parenting
problems, school problems, and substance abuse.

Marriage Counseling
Marriage counseling is an effective tool in helping marriages work. Marriage counseling focuses on
working through differences and helping the couple get back on track. Life is so fast paced and
marriages and families get caught up in the hustle and bustle and begin to neglect what is most
important. The counseling office is a safe, non-judgmental place for you and your spouse to
reconnect and work things out.
If you and your spouse are finding that you argue constantly, broken trust, lack of connection,
financial problems, feelings that you are being misunderstood, infidelity, loss of a child, differences
in parenting styles, it may be time to reach out and set up an appointment.
Counseling for kids, pre-teens, and teens
Children and adolescent therapy works toward reducing stressors, striving to help families
cope with divorces, illness, loss and conflict. Counseling helps to establish healthy coping skills
and boundaries to deal with life challenges. It also helps children and teens learn more about
themselves.
What Parents Can Expect during the counseling session:
Parents can expect their child to take some steps forward during the first few visits. In the
beginning, the child will not be learning all the counseling strategies. The first few sessions
focus on building a relationship with the counselor and getting to know each other.
The next step is to develop goals for treatment. These goals include identifying what the child
or adolescent wants to change about himself/herself, how he/she feels about him/herself, and
what his/her strengths and weaknesses are. The therapist helps the child identify problems
and possible solutions. In addition, the therapist teaches coping skills to deal with stress and
anxiety. Finally, the therapist works with the family to implement positive lifestyle changes.
In the beginning, the child may feel anxious or uncomfortable talking with someone else about
personal matters. However, over time, the child learns to trust the therapist and open up.
He/she begins to realize that his/her feelings don't define him/her. As a result, the child gains
self-confidence and becomes more equipped to deal with the complexities they face in life.
